Green Comes To The Suffolk County Boat Show
NY State's Clean Vessel Assistance Program has been established to protect and improve water quality in NY's navigable waterways. The CVAP provides federally funded grants of up to seventy five percent of the project cost. The grants are to assist marinas install pumpout and dump station facilities to receive sewage from recreational marine vessels. Under contract with NY State Environmental Facilities Conservation, The NY State Facilities Corporaton provides technical and administrative services for this grant program.
The mission of this federally funded grant is to provide marinas with funding to complete projects that will promote the understanding, use and knowledge of pumpout station in their area. The Clean Vessel Assistance Program's mission is administered and maintained through a contract with the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Rick Tafuro, promoter of the Suffolk County Boat Show, feels that this project provides important information that the boating public should be aware of. Long Island boaters may visit the CVAP booth at the show and get information about this program at Long Island facilities.
